Shakayla Clark is a Southern Illinois Artist who uses her work to emphasize the beauty within the Black community by using themes of mysticism and horror. With her work she speaks on issues within America that revolve around injustice and pacification of its Black community and issues within the Black community itself.
Clark creates her works using a variety materials and mediums, such as carved wooden masks, ink and charcoal portraits, and Black matte paint on xboard that is cut and peeled away to create images. Her favorite works are the ones that incorporate flowing linework or flowers.
